The "Junior Leader -Retaining" program of La Caixa is aimed at hiring excellent researchers, supporting the best talents to foster their independent scientific career as an option for future employment

The “la Caixa” ‘Junior leader - Postdoctoral Retaining’ program is aimed at hiring excellent researchers, of any nationality, who wish to continue their research career in Spanish or Portuguese territory. This program aims to promote high quality and innovative research in Spain and Portugal and support the best scientific talents by promoting independent scientific career as an option for a professional future, offering an attractive and competitive environment in which to carry out an excellent research. Dr. Miguel Mompeán, researcher of the "Structure, dynamics and interactions of proteins by NMR" group, in the Department of Biological Physical Chemistry of the Institute of Physical Chemistry Rocasolano, has been awarded within this fellowship program. During the selection process, 11 projects were awarded, out of a total of 484 applications, where he was chosen from among the 6 proposals granted in his panel, corresponding to Life Sciences. The research project, which will be financed with a total of 300,000 euros over three years, will focus on the use of nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR) to visualize the abnormalities that proteins suffer in the context of neurodegenerative diseases. The ”la Caixa” ‘Junior leader - Postdoctoral Retaining’ program also has its own complementary training program of excellence and a career development plan, promoting international mobility and the acquisition of leadership skills.
